Core launches ‘Stay on track’ mobile app.

Following a competitive pitch back in February 2013, the NSW Trade & Industry Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing appointed Sydney agency, Core. The brief was to create and produce a digital concept to encourage responsible gambling, and promote awareness of the counselling services available on the Gambling Help website. Core’s solution was to create an innovative smartphone app, ‘Stay on track’ which has been designed to encourage positive behavioral change for problem gamblers. The app enables users to set a betting budget, update their bets (losses and wins) and track how they are doing via a simple visual dashboard.

The app has been designed to be a useful and ongoing tool for all forms of gamblers, both online and offline, from pokie rooms to the racetrack.

Launched at a special event today by reformed gambler and former NRL star Nathan Hindmarsh, the app is now available for public download. It can be found on the Apple App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android devices. The program will also include digital advertising on partner websites and a targeted Facebook campaign.

Jenny Crocker, Senior Communication Consultant, Responsible Gambling Fund, NSW Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing said,

“We want to give people tools to better monitor their gambling spending and reach out to those who are looking for help. We believe the ‘Stay on Track’ app created by Core will help people recognise sooner if their betting is becoming a problem for them.”

Encouraging the target audience to gamble responsibly will indicate the success of the campaign, along with helping people to better recognise the signs of problem gambling and discover where they can receive help.

Duncan Wakes-Miller, Core Managing Partner said,

“With gambling it’s not about telling people what they can or can’t do, it’s about giving them engaging tools and simple information, so they can better look out for themselves and their mates. Our ‘Stay on Track’ app provides exactly that.”

This latest work by Core adds to a suite of NSW Government projects that have been created and produced for other departments including Destination NSW and NSW Roads & Maritime Services.
